Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) — A new arena and resort will soon be coming to the Las Vegas Strip.

County commissioners unanimously approved plans to build the new facility on the north end of the resort corridor, near Sahara.

Former Runnin’ Rebel Jackie Robinson is behind the project, which comes with a $700 million price tag.

The All Net Arena is expected to seat around 20,000 and would be the first arena in Las Vegas to have a retractable roof.

The resort is said to have 5-star accommodations with 500 rooms and a large spa.

Robinson is now the first minority to own a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

“This is more than just about me, this is the largest minority project in the history of the United States,” said Robinson.

The project will also feature a promenade with the resort corridor’s first grocery store, as well as a movie theater.

But the project wasn’t without opposition. Dozens of residents in the neighboring Turnberry Towers submitted letters expressing concern the arena would cause a massive influx of traffic along Paradise Road.

Before receiving the green light, Robinson’s team said a hearing would be scheduled to address the traffic issues.
