Authorities say crews carried out 18 swift water rescues after flash flooding hit the Las Vegas area.

Fire and Rescue spokesman Timothy R. Szymanski says many of rescues came on Sunday after vehicles stalled in flooded roadways.

He says that there were no reports of any injuries and the calls ended in the early evening when flash flood warnings ended.

Mt. Charleston and Kyle Canyon received nearly 3 inches of rain causing serious flooding, according to a report by KLAS.

The station says a wildfire last month destroyed vegetation on the mountain making flooding more likely. Tractors and earth moving equipment were used to clear the roads.

Nevada Highway Patrol says that the Kyle Canyon Road will remain closed indefinitely because part of the road was washed away.
