Sneak peek at Downtown Summerlin Ahead of Grand Opening

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) — The grand opening of Downtown Summerlin is on Thursday, Oct. 9 and then we’ll be able to experience it for ourselves.
Until then, we’ve got a sneak peek inside the highly-anticipated new shopping center.
“I think there’s going to be a lot of excitement with the opening. It’s going to be kind of crazy for the first few weeks,” said Summerlin resident Paul Perez.
The anchor stores like Macy’s and Dillard’s, and the movie theater, are already open, but the retail complex itself doesn’t open until later this week.
There’s still a lot of construction going on but now there’s a real downtown with an urban feel and that’s exactly what they were going for.
85 of the stores will be opening this Thursday the rest will be up and running in the following weeks and months.
“There’s a lot of things that really make it different. You’ve got a great mix of retailers and restaurants,” said Caryn Kboudi, Howard Hughes VP of Corporate Communications.
This is just phase 1 of a much larger project.
“Downtown Summerlin altogether will be about 400 acres. We have luxury apartments that are coming in there; going to start construction in a matter of a few more months,” Kboudi said.
Downtown Summerlin is located east of the 215 between Sahara and Charleston.
