Farmers Insurance is asking a court to block a California review of its auto insurance rates from 2008 on.
Farmers’ rates are being challenged by consumers in a separate case. In a lawsuit against the California Department of Insurance, the company argued in a lawsuit that the department’s plan to review its rates is “unlawful under applicable law and current facts.” Continue reading →

The state Supreme Court on Thursday issued two rulings bolstering homeowners associations’ ability to sell houses through foreclosure. Nevada’s highest court unanimously ruled that a 2014 decision upholding HOAs’ ability to foreclose ahead of mortgage lenders can be retroactively applied to foreclosures that took place before that ruling. Years ago the Democrats used budget reconciliation to enact parts of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), so the use of reconciliation to modify the ACA, but not repeal it is fitting gesture.
